Gracemere State School acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands from across Queensland and pays respect to Elders – past and present – for they hold the memories, traditions, the cultures and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the state.

Gracemere State School is the oldest state school in Central Queensland, opening in 1871 with just 48 students. We value strong links to a proud history, whilst evolving into a contemporary school for 21st learners, providing modern facilities including access to 21st technology.

Gracemere State School is located in the heart of Gracemere on the outskirts of Rockhampton and caters for students for Prep - Year 6. Enrolments are continuing to rise, currently sitting at 325 students, as our reputation and successes increase.  The School’s core purpose, building a healthy and engaged community, is built on established traditions and high expectations with strong parent and community engagement and support. This is underpinned by our 4 school values: Always Present, Always Safe, Always Respectful and Always Learning.

As a professional learning community committed to continual improvement, our long established school motto, “Our Best Always” is evidenced in the daily learning of the students and the teaching of the school staff. Everyone is empowered through high expectations to nurture and inspire our students to do their best always. Though our vision "United in Success", staff share a common goal and direction towards developing life-long learners with a continued focus on student success and wellbeing for all. Through quality teaching and learning based on the Australian Curriculum, we aim to personalise the learning of every student to support the achievement of their individual learning goals. Students have access to high quality academic, language, arts, sporting, music and digital technologies programs with specialist teachers.

Our Wraparound Services Centre, which focuses on building student wellbeing, collaborates with community organisations to provide our parents with opportunities to learn about and access programs that can assist their families. The school works with local Indigenous Elders and community groups to help our students achieve well academically and socially.

Our students are proud to wear their school uniform which is well recognised in the Gracemere and surrounding Rockhampton communities and provides children with a sense of belonging. We value parents as partners in their child's education and develop strong partnerships with all members of our community to support our students in their pursuit of excellence. I invite you to work in partnership with our staff to prepare our students for a lifetime of learning.
