Gracemere State School has 3 school house teams representing the school's proud connection to it's local community history.

Archer: colour - red

The Archer sporting house is named after the Archer family who were the first Europeans to settle on Darumbal Country in the Gracemere area on 10 August 1855.

Fitzroy: colour – green

The Fitzroy sporting house is named after the Fitzroy River that winds through Rockhampton. The traditional owners, the Darumbal people, refer to the Fitzroy River as 'Tunuba'.

Ellida: colour – yellow

The Ellida sporting house is named after the Ellida ketch, the Archer's supply boat that first traversed the Fitzroy River in 1855. The Ellida ketch carried cargo and supplies up the Fitzroy River. A monument for the original Ellida bell is proudly housed in the Gracemere SS grounds.
